We are excited to announce that POD is introducing several quarterly courses to our upcoming autumn and winter lineups, with more coming soon after. These courses are a direct result of our continued efforts to deliver unparalleled experiences and high quality products at POD. These new additions expand our lineup by diving deeper into popular content and exploring new areas of interest. We are proud to maintain the delicate balance of offering fundamental courses ideal for any employee’s professional growth, combined with sprinkling new courses throughout the year to keep our participants engaged and eager to take their learning to the next level.

Launching straight into autumn, participants in Greg Taylor’s The Erosion of Empathy will learn how to identify their own level of empathy and examine how the absence of empathy in leadership impacts policy, practice and principles and influences equity, diversity and inclusion efforts and initiatives. In The Art of Project Management, trainer and consultant Jayant Swamy educates how project management is both an art and science. This all-day class is designed to emphasize the “art” within the project management framework, a complement to Q0460 Project Management Essentials, which focuses on the “science” side. Meanwhile, De-Escalation Skills for the Workplace, a very popular breakout session with Témo Madrigal-Sanchez at this year’s Support Professional Spring Retreat, has now been expanded into a quarterly course. This class provides a space for participants to examine their own verbal and non-verbal communication styles and is packed with a variety of role-playing conflict scenarios to awaken the calm negotiator within.

This momentum will continue into the new year as we welcome Steven Byers back to facilitate his Systems Wisdom course, which was piloted this summer. This class explores what it means to bring a systemic perspective to one’s work and relationships, and encourages participants to use systems thinking to deepen their understanding of a complex challenge or issue.

Also in winter quarter, Senior Organizational Development Consultant Jeff Leinaweaver, who joined POD this spring, will debut a new offering. Jeff will explore a range of intercultural tools and process models in Leadership for a Global Perspective: Developing Cultural Intelligence (CQ). Jeff will utilize the Intercultural Effectiveness Scale (IES) tool and Cultural Intelligence model, which are designed to help leaders, educators, and professionals develop intercultural competencies for global leadership, leading to less conflict and more successful adaptive leadership.

We’re in the process of vetting proposals for spring and anticipate at least two new offerings at that time. In the meantime, we hope you are as thrilled about these new courses as our instructors are to collaborate with each of you. We look forward to seeing you here at Roosevelt Commons East!
